How AutoKeeper works
The handful of decisions worth knowing before you start.
Getting started
Create a household, add a vehicle (paste the VIN and let it fill in the rest), and log one fill-up. Everything else follows from records you were going to keep anyway.
How efficiency is measured
Between consecutive full, non-missed fill-ups of the same kind, using the odometer readings on each. A partial fill or a missed one breaks the chain honestly rather than averaging through it. A plug-in hybrid keeps two independent chains, fuel and charge.
Reminders
By date, by odometer, or whichever comes first. Odometer reminders compare against the highest reading across every record type, so a fill-up counts the same as a dedicated reading.
Units and money
Distances are stored in kilometres and money in minor units with the currency it was recorded in. Miles, your currency and your date format are display preferences — changing one never rewrites a record. Mixed currencies are shown side by side, never summed at an invented rate.
Sharing
A share link is read-only, section-scoped and optionally pin-protected. It never exposes costs, documents or personal data, whatever sections you pick.
Households and access
A household owns its vehicles and records. Members can be owners, admins, members or viewers, and someone can instead be granted access to a single vehicle without joining the household at all.
Downgrades
Nothing is ever deleted. If you drop below your vehicle count, the newest vehicles become read-only until you upgrade or archive one — every record stays exactly where it was.
